Given all this, and the ready availablity of actual IIe ROM chips, it seems
the best way to go is just keep a set of chips for each emulator and you're
done.  As I pointed out, some Mac clone builders legally sold clones without
ROM chips,  with the expectation that buyers would use the ROM chips from
their Macs.   If they could do that without being sued by Apple, Apple isn't
going to sue emulator users who are in posession of original Apple II ROMs.
