hi Brian,

my first Apple purchased in Australia (in Oct 1980) was sold/advertised as
an Apple II Plus, however the item that was supplied was stamped Apple II
euro Plus (or similar).
when you ordered it you specified 16K, 32K or 48K. I ordered the 48K
version, however on the receipt they simply sold me a 16K model and 2x 16K
kits which was fitted by the stores.
the version sold in Australia was for 240V 50Hz, and I'm pretty sure the
video output was NTSC because initially I used a green screen chassis as a
monitor, and later I also purchased an Apple PAL interface so I could get
colour a standard PAL TV.

I do remember that it was configured as uppercase only setup, like all other
Apple IIs and that really annoyed me. after I learned more about it, I
discovered that the keyboard was actually capable of lowercase by fitting a
DPDT or SPDT switch. I bought some oversized push-on/push-off thing and
fitted that in the bottom left corner where the normally square white
Power-On indicator was fitted. I actually used the power on lamp cap and
glued it to the top of the switch so it worked like a normal Caps Lock key.
I can't remember if I wired up a power on lamp now as my memory fails me. I
also I had to cut the circuit board away under where the switch was fitted
because the switch was so long.
it was also necessary to modify the ROM so that it did not force uppercase
in an ORA #$80 or similar command in the ROM. all that was required was to
burn an EPROM changing the ORA #$80 to a couple of NOPs.

the Apple II euroPlus had 8 slots and the first one (slot 0) was basically
used for the 16K memory expansion/ or language card. I got one of those
later. my II euroPlus had the Autostart FP ROM on board and INTEGER BASIC
had to be loaded into the language card if needed.

hope that helps your database,

as far as the EUROMOD goes, like you I have never heard of it, so maybe
wasn't sold here.
