first aux then main

long answer:
bload foo.aux,a$2000
bload foo.main,a$4000
bsave foo.daz,a$2000,l$4000

here's a screen snipper program you can use to construct a daz DGR
file from 2 HGR files:

basically, go to page 1, load the aux buf
then go to page 2, load the main buf
then switch to dhgr, you'll see your pic
now save (it saves in dazzle format)
