ANNC: CiderPress v1.1

faddenSoft CiderPress has been updated to v1.1. A number of new features
have been added.

Nibble image support:
 - Can open .NIB (6656-byte) and .NB2 (6384-byte) image files.
 - Handles 16-sector (6&2-encoded) and 13-sector (5&3-encoded) disks.
 - Automatically identifies and works around simple forms of copy
protection. Standard disks are read with the "standard" parameters,
non-standard disks use "patched" (a la Copy ][+ sector editor)
parameters or special entries. Check the web site for a Castle
Wolfenstein title page pulled straight off a nibble image of the
   original copy-protected 13-sector disk.
 - The disk viewer can change sector parameters on the fly. This allows
you, for example, to see both versions of track 0 sector 0 on
   bootable 13-sector disks.

Disk image converter:
 - Convert any disk image format that CiderPress supports -- which is
just about all of them -- into almost any other.
 - Supported "output" formats are .PO, .DO, .2MG (dos/prodos/nibble),
.NIB, .SDK, Sim //e .HDV, and DiskCopy 4.2. A "gzip" compression
   wrapper can be added.
 - Useful for adding or removing 2MG headers and altering the sector
order, as well as converting between sector and nibble images.
Convert your 800K disks to and from DiskCopy 4.2 format, or change
them to ShrinkIt disk images so you can unpack them on an Apple II.

SST image merge:
 - SST on the Apple II creates two disk images. Normally you have to
run SST under an emulator to combine them back together into a single
.NIB image. This tool merges the images for you, greatly simplifying
   the tedious second step.

Miscellaneous improvements:
 - Odd-sized ProDOS volumes, such as "31.9" MB hard drive images, can
   now be opened.
 - Directory preferences are now saved.

For anyone not familiar with the product: CiderPress is like a "ShrinkIt
for Windows" on steroids. It offers full access to ShrinkIt archives,
and allows you to view and extract files directly out of disk images.
File converters translate programs, documents, and graphics files into
formats easily accessible under Windows and other systems.

CiderPress is shareware, with a $19.95 registration cost. After 30 days
it must be registered.
