Re: Apple II case preferences....
GSGeek
I don't like beige/brown and ergonomics principles were not applied to
he ][+ and //e cases
To work well, they really need to be dropped into a hole cut in the
table top with another plaform underneath, so that the front is level
with the table.
so my favorite one is the GS even if it looks much
like a PC but without screws to hold things together or noisy fans. It is
not perfect either; I find the GS keyboard a bit small.
Actually, I prefer the GS keyboard to anyother ADB keyboard.
I still don't
understand why the case' useful perimeter is actually smaller than its
footprint.
I wish they had made a 3.5" "DuoDisk"
Roy
Recently, someone said my //e looks like a typewriter. Not a bad analogy:
they have about the same degree of usefulness :).
Here's a thread I figured might be interesting.
What case do Apple II aficandos prefer?
Personally, my favourite is the Apple ][ and ][ Plus cases because they
are sturdy and made of thick plastic with a heavy solid base plate on the
bottom.
The Apple //e (and IIe platinum) has a thinner case, although it does have
the nicer designed backplate for expansion card connecters which the ][
and ][ Plus lack....they just have the V shaped openings in back.
Of course, the //c and IIc Plus are cool because of their small size and
portability.
And, as nice looking as the IIgs case is, I still prefer the keyboard and
cpu/power supply all built into one case like the II, II Plus and IIe.
Anybody else have opinions?
