You can d/l some Mac OS's free from Apple.  They are disk images. You may be
able to create them with a PC, since there is PC software for  formatting
and writing to Mac floppies.  Years ago I used a shareware program called
Macette.  There are probably better ones now.

Your Performa has an external SCSI port, so you could have several hard
disks with different OS's. Connect the one you want to use.

Yeah, the IIgs is very nice to have. They are very cheap, fast, and make it
a lot easier to work with archives because you can have two 800K floppies,
or even a hard disk.
