IIgs and Jaz drive- need help with format/partitioning

I have been trying to get an Iomega Jazz 1 GB drive to work with my IIgs,
with very little success.. Here is what I have tried:

1) The Ramfast utilities struggle to do a low level format on the drive
(completed 1 of 6 times)  and will not partition it.
2) The old Chinook utilities will not work with the Ramfast
3) The Advanced Disk Utilities on system 6.0.1 will not recognize the drive
either, until the low level format did complete the one time.  Then ADU
would NOT partition or format (HFS) the subsequent diskette (1 GB)
     Does anyone know of a program that WILL work to low level format on the
diskette and  then partition the drive?  IMy goal is to to backup my hard
drive to identical partitions (ProDos & HFS) in the Jazz... comp.sys.apple
II archives reveal others have had the same problem ):
Can you offer any suggestions?
BTW, the diskettes were Mac formatted out of the box, but the GS would not
recognize it at all, and the Ramfast crashed  per above...
