Ebay could solve all of these issues if they would just extend the
auction if there are bids in the last few minutes of the auction. A
real auctioneer would, I don't know why they dont.

They do, but sniping programs hit it between the 2 second and zero
mark, so their programming can't catch it in time.

Ebay does not extend auctions because of last-minute bids. Where are
you getting this stuff, Bill?

No where. I'm just miffed at losing so many auctions. The things
I really want end up so high I can't afford them,

Welcome to the club. Japanese collectors are willing to pay outrageous prices for what they consider collecable. That isn't always bad - I've sold Apple II programs on tape that way.

As others have said, put in a bid for what you are willing to pay, and then congratulate yourself that you didn't pay the price that some moron paid.

I've seen IIgs programming books that you can still buy new, go used for almost twice the new price. God bless them - it's nice to see economic stimulation.

or someone hits
it at the last second mark. Anyway, it's been a great discussion.
Apparently there is as much insanity off eBay as on. Many has been
the time someone posted something silly and I checked and found the
truth, never to mention it at all. No need to, for there will always be
someone on the usergroups to dispute things for me.
Thank you all who participated in my study of usergroup activity. ;-)
