Only a fraction of the "Apple II" computers sold on eBay have pictures of
the nameplate, and the fraction of newbie bidders is high. Many of them
would not look beyond the picture showing the nameplate, and, perhaps,
neither would the truth interfere much with their "collector" bragging
rights.
So, in a sense, they get what they want, and the seller gets what he/she
wants ($).
Of course, every fraud is discoverable by a sufficiently knowledgeable
buyer, but we have no shortage of ignorant buyers. ;-)
