OK, off-topic it is...

You say it powers up OK when you disconnect the IDE _cables_--how
about disconnecting them one at a time?

Sounds like some mechanical stress to one of the cables produced a
short, and it needs to be replaced.  (BTW, I assume that you've verified
the orientation of the connectors, right?)

You know that this setup worked before, so it has to be something
that was inadvertently damaged in the process of moving it to a new
case.  Flat cables are particularly susceptible to being nicked by metal
cases...
