Yes, Linus wrote Linux from scratch because he wanted a UNIX implementation
(i.e. an OS that conformed to the POSIX standard) but couldn't afford to buy
one.  So instead of buying a UNIX implementation (i.e. Solaris, SCO XENIX,
AIX, etc..) he wrote it.  Linux does not "imitate" UNIX - it is an
implementation of the POSIX standard, which is what all UNICES all.
