Hm, from what I can see those still have about 9 - 11 chips, while on the ol' ZX81 PCB I count only five (ROM, CPU, ULA and 2x 0.5k RAM :)
Agree though, modern computer users learn relatively little about how computers actually work. I count myself lucky I was among the last generation to actually learn BASIC programming in my 1986 "elementary computing" course (and learned how to repair some old hardwarez the hard way ;)
