This is perfectly normal behavior for your Color Monitor //e, which is a
composite video monitor.
It is a very unusual composite monitor, however, since it switches to
hi-bandwidth monochrome mode whenever a non-graphic screen is
displayed.
Some programs display text on a graphics or mixed text & graphics
screen, and under those conditions, the text will display color artifacts.
There is a "color/monochrome" pushbutton on the right side of the
under-screen adjustment panel. Selecting monochrome mode will
eliminate the color artifacts and increase the luminance bandwidth,
making even 80-column text quite readable.
