Re: Word Handler
Solved by someone who shall remain anonymous:
"...I then copied a file from the DOS 3.3 to a ProDos 5.25" disk using Copy
II+. Using
Appleworks 3.0, I could then load the document into the Word Processor
module by using
the option "Make a new file: from a text (ASCII) file. It should be noted
that even
though it says "from a text file" you can load any file (including binary)
that isn't
forked into Appleworks. Of course, if you load a graphic in this way you'd
just get
gibberish.
The file I then got in Appleworks had a bunch of "#" gibberish characters
after the text
that you would have to delete. And there are a few gibberish characters
interspersed in
the text. But it would be easy to edit the documents by simply finding all
# and replace
them with nothing. There would still be some other characters to delete..."
Thru AppleWin emulator, I:
Converted DOS 3.3 files to ProDos (transferred from floppy via ADT122).
Created new word processing files from text in AppleWorks.
Saved the new files to ProDos disk.
Converted ProDos files back to DOS 3.3.
Saved files to PC '.txt' thru AppleWin.
All I have to do now is open them with MS Word, strip out the WH control
characters, reformat and I'm all set.
