Apple IIGS clock doesn't update.

I have a ROM 01 Apple IIgs that I pieced together recently.  I replaced 
the battery so it remembers the control panel settings now.  One thing 
that bugs me, though, is the clock.  It hasn't updated since I set it 
except once when it was unplugged.  I don't remember what I could have 
done to cause it to advance by about 30 seconds.  While I suppose I can 
live without a working clock, any help would be much apprectiated.  It's 
late, I'm tired, so if this doesn't make any sense... ask as many 
questions as are necessary.
