Wayne,
I've got a RAMWorks III, and I found disk images for the
RAMFactor/RAMWorks/PCTransporter utilities. Now, I've patched AW2 to
work with the RAMWorks III, and that works fine. But how do you get it
to work as a RAM disk for the rest of the system? I went back to
using my RAMFactor because I couldn't get the RAMWorks III to work as
a general RAM disk...
The RamWorks III came with two double sided utility disks. The one you
want is the Super Desktop Expander. The program for a ProDOS RAMdisk is
called ProDrive. On the opposite side is the DOS 3.3 RAMdisk utilities
with not too imaginative names like RAMDRIVE and RAMCOPY.
I've also got an original 8-bit Transwarp, with 256k. Isn't that
supposed to be accesible somehow, beyond the first 128k? I've never
gotten anything more than the standard RAMdisk out of it...
No the RAM on the TransWarp isn't used that way really. The TransWarp
can only access the RAM on the TransWarp card at 3.5mhz, all other RAM
is accessed at 1 mhz. It operates on a RAM replacement system. It uses
the RAM on the card instead of the 64k on the motherboard and the first
64k on the Auxiliary slot card. It also reads The Apple IIs ROM into
it's own RAM so it doesn't have to slow down for ROM access. With a
TransWarp installed you can actually run a IIe or II+ with empty RAM
sockets on the motherboard.
If you want I can email you a PDF of the manuals for any of those 3
cards.
