Hi, I Need some Apple II+ Help

I've got an Apple II+ at home. I believe the system has 48K
installed, although it might have 64K installed....hard to recall now,
the upgrade was done in 84 I think :)

Anyhow, there are several discs worth of writing done by a relative
that I'd like to gain access to. I believe these were done using PFS
Writer (by Broderbund), which I still have.

However, I think the only way I can reasonably get these writings off
the computer would be to re-connect a printer and hardcopy them, then
scan them into my PC....or perhaps just save them as printed items.

Now, I have an Apple Imagewriter (uses fax paper I believe..I think
its the image writer..very small, wedge shaped...), however the last
printer that was hooked up to this computer was a daisy-wheel letter
quality printer (boy did that thing make a racket).

That printer is now AWOL (lost in a move). So what I have is an Apple
Imagewriter, but the wrong interface card inside the AppleII+ (I think
there is a parallel card in there).

So, can someone give me an idea on what the smart move is here? If
I've got the parallel card in there, is there a particularly cheap
used Apple printer I can purchase on EBAY to print out these writings?
Can I plug "any old printer" in or do I need to find some specific
ones? Considering the age of this unit, if it means I have to buy a
$20 printer and ribbon from EBAY to print this out, I'd do it.

Or, if its smarter to put an Apple Imagewriter card back in the II+
instead of the Parallel card, thats an option to.

OBviously, I'm a bit in the dark here and need to know which way to
go. I'm primarily after printing out any saved written material
(letters, some writings, etc done by a now deceased relative).

Any information would be appreciated.

One funny thing: I have all the manuals for APpleDos and such...and
after finally getting the disk drives hooked up and working and
managing to get AppleDOS loaded up, I played Hard Hat Mack. Boy did
that bring back memories.
But then I couldn't remember the basic commands (Menu, BRUN,
etc)...took awhile....but just for laughs I opened up the AppleII
Manual.

THEN I remembered why computers were only for geeks back then: THe
first 10 pages of the manual I think are nothing but electrical
schematics :D

You dont get that with your average Dell or Gateway these days :D
