Did you remember to reboot the machine (Ctrl-Apple-Reset) after changing
the slot assignments? Doing something like a PR#6 isn't sufficient to
make the changes to slot assignments take effect.
If you were still getting the test code from the SuperDrive card, that
slot must have still been in "your card" mode, unless something was
going behind the system's back and tweaking the slot assignment I/O
register. The test code doesn't exist in the built-in slot 5 firmware.
