Re: Your favourite [Commodore] enemy - the Spectrum, the Atari, the

It should be added that csa2 has divided into two groups. Another very active
A2 group is over at syndicomm.com It is private to subscribers but not too
expensive. The people over there are very knowledgable. And they have some
new software to sell and some freeware to download.

The syndicommers do read this group and sometimes post helpful information.
They are still trying to keep the market open so that people might produce new
things. Let's be realistic, outside of simple things, not much new will be
produced if there isn't some economic incentive. Spectrum is still very
actively supported but those involved home to reap reward from this. There are
only 24 hours in a day and one has to eat and live. It takes money to do these
things. Unless you are independently wealthy you must work part of the day.

Many people, including many people on syndicomm donate a lot of time to the A2.
But all of them also have to work at more lucrative jobs.

The emphasis on A2 is more into scrouging. I love scrouging too as do many on
syndicomm but some things are worth paying for, perhaps. The tension seems to
me to be on this level.

There will not be elaborate easy to use software developments with the
enviornment we are in now. What we seem to get now are mostly hacks, things
that work for speicfic things and are hard to use. I guess Spectrum is the
only thing that may break that rule of thumb. But I am very simple, even
though I own a copy of Spectrum I have never been able to make it work as well
as Proterm 3.1 (which I am on right now). But that's just me. I have gotten
spoiled and I prefer to stay that way.
