Apple's OS X is pretty recent. Apparently Apple has become heretics
to their earlier one-and-only true religion: the GUI. Probably this is
because of market pressure: one single computer manufacturer cannot
insist on developing their own OS forever. So Apple included a verison
of UNIX into their OS X. UNIX has a command line; Apple didn't put it
there, they merely accepted its presence.
But apart from OS X, where do you find a command line in earlier
versions of Mac OS? Yep, I've heard there are a few add-on third
party products, but that's all....

I never used Appleworks. I didn't use Lotus either. Back then, I
used computers for computing, not as replacements for pencil and
paper.... :-) ....today it's different; everyone use these programs
so you're forced to move along....
