It's my understanding that it can... it just doesn't look right because of the aspect change. I was informed that the XL still had to load MacWorks to use Mac software, but that wasn't a big problem, as it still had nearly twice the RAM of a "FatMac", and perhaps as much as four times the RAM. Remember that until the MacPlus came out the Lisa/XL was the only Apple PC that could have up to two megs of RAM.

same thing in reverse, a Lisa 2 cannot run Mac OS without the assistance of
MacWorks, but a Macintosh XL can without any assistance.
