Re: AppleWorks help?

<<
There was also a special thing where AppleWorks 2.x original disks were
formatted in a speical way, allowing more useful disk space. I have an
excellent article about it here somewhere, but it will take me hours to dig it
out. If someone else can explain that unusual disk situation, it woud be good
(and interesting). >>

Apple freed up some of the directory blocks to allow for more data blocks.
Sinced there are less than 12 files on the first disk side only one directory
block is necessary instead of the usual four blocks. To create a disk to save
the files on you need to format a disk and then go to the volume heading and
change the number of directory blocks to one instead of four. The pointers on
that directory block, usually 00 and 03 need to be changed so that both
previous and next block are set to 00. The the volume bit map needs to be
changed to reflect the additional three free blocks. Prosel's Block Warden is
what I used when I created a disk like this. I also tried to mark block 01 asa
free and us that but that did not always work.
