LZW Patent (was Re: DOS 3.3 for 1.40 MB disk, for a system with non-working 80-column code?)

Iwas not able to find that statement from Unisys but I did find this:

Sounds like licenses are for LZW and not GIF in particular. I'm not a 
lawyer and that page says it isn't either but it does sound like Unisys 
meant all LZW, not just GIF or TIFF-LZW.

No biggie, I'm sure, because the Apple II is hardly worth an hour of 
Unisys' lawyers' time. ;o)  I am just providing the link in case anyone 
is curious.

Next year the point becomes moot.
