Adding an Autostart ROM to an "existing empty socket" wouldn't do anything
useful. It must be installed in the F8 socket to be used, and that means
that you have to pull the original monitor ROM (non-Autostart) out.
So removing RAM chips is not going to be adequate to restore it to
original condition.
