Last time I checked, Marinetti doesn't support MacIP (IP-over-LocalTalk).
My understanding is that it's in the works, but isn't in wide distribution
at this point.
If you only want to swap files between your Mac and your GS, a couple of
PhoneNet boxes and some phone cord will do that. I'm guessing that you're
looking to do more than that, though. I have mine hooked to a GatorBox CS,
through which it's able to share files with a Mac (like yours, a Quadra 610)
and a Linux server running netatalk. Through the Linux server, files can
also be swapped with other Linux and Win2K machines. (If I can get netatalk
set up to handle printing, I have a Lexmark Optra Color 40 and a Brother
HL-630 that the Mac and the IIGS might be able to use.)
If you have more machines on an Ethernet network, you might also experiment
with LocalTalk Bridge (free download from Apple). It does some of the same
stuff a GatorBox can do (bridging between LocalTalk and Ethernet).
GatorBoxen are supposed to be able to do more, but I've not set up mine to
do more than simple bridging. (At least I don't have to fire up the Mac for
the GS to see the rest of the network.)
