Let me add a little to what David said.
ROM0/1 and ROM3 motherboards have different base addresses for RAM
expansion.
ROM0/1 starts at 256k, ROM3 at 1M.
I've used 3 different model RAM expansion cards.
RAMpak4GS :(which doesn't support DMA-which basically means if you use a
high speed SCSI card for hard drive or CD-ROM, you can't run it any faster
than a regular (non-DMA) card.
AE GS-RAM: Some boards (1.5MB version) need a chip (PAL) swap for the
different motherboards.
One (4MB version) needed a trace cut or jumpered.
