This is not strictly true--it's actually a "small matter of programming".
The CFFA card supports only hard partitioning of the media, not a
partition table on the media itself, so it is incompatible with PC's and
Macs for direct interchange.
But a Mac or PC formatted flash card can be placed in the card and
its blocks read directly. Apple II software could then interpret the
data to implement, say, the PC's FAT 12 file system (used by many
digital cameras).
