Bootstrapping ADT/Dos3.3

Hello,

I got an Apple //e with a 5.25" drive, but no diskettes. I attempted
to create a DOS 3.3 bootable disk using the DOS3.3 dump over the
serial line. The data is transferred fine, but the last command
"9D84G" causes an exception (there is a BRK at $9D84). If I try to
return to BASIC with CTRL-C or CTRL-B, and type "INIT HELLO", "CAT",
or any other DOS command, I get a syntax error.

Is there some slight difference for the Apple //e which causes the
trouble? How would I need to modify the dump to succesfully patch DOS
into BASIC, so I can create a bootable system disk?

Thanks,

David.
