Howdy folks in c.s.atari.8bit, c.s.apple2, c.s.CBM and c.s.msx

I'm trying to make my Atari 8 bit computer read data CD and have stumbled
upon a problem.

What should I do when Request Sense returns an ASC code of 6.
Should I TEST UNIT READY or try to read the Primary Volume Descriptor (PVD).

When I wrote my CD Audio player utility, I'ld read the TOC, but reading the
PVD will return all zero's.  (when the CD isn't loaded yet)

I can read 6502 source code, so a piece of source code would do.

PS anybody know a good source for what exactly we should do if this or that
ASC or ASC Q code comes back?
I do have the T10 info, but that's not always very clear to me.
