Re: Wanted: Appleworks 5.1
>(A.P.P.L.E. Webmaster)
Your e-mail asked me to reply if I was interested in your helping to preserve
the [my]
resource for the Apple II community. I was not interested in that, so (as you
requested) I didn't reply. [No offense, but you didn't even sign your name.]
TEXAS II newsletters, disks, and patches for AppleWorks 3.0 to 5.1 for the
Apple II are still available for sale directly from me. My patches and bug
fixes are not public domain.

As I said, they are available for sale, just as they have been (onging) for the
last 12 years. Please inquire. I would be happy to help you.
On the other matter [updating legal owners of AppleWorks]:
Please note that AppleWorks 5.1 itself is not my product. Other than signing
non-disclosure agreements for beta testing from 1988-1995, I have no connection
with the publisher, and I have no obligation to provide this product to anyone.
It is not for me to say who would "take over the service."

This was the policy, stated in writing at the beginning of that particular
undertaking [updating legal owners]. Perhaps those who sit back, laugh at, and
criticize those who volunteer their time and expertise for the good of the
group should think carefully before speaking. It all adds up, unfortunately.
On the other hand, perhaps he was right. ;-)
