G4 motherboard in my B&W G3?

my B&W G3 freezes during startup just prior to control panel load even with
both internal hard disks and RAM removed (e.g. Norton or OS9 disk in CD
drive only) - also - no peripherals connected, and zapping the p-ram
doesn't change anything. I suspect the motherboard is gone. Can I install a
G4 motherboard in my B&W G3?
