The Superdrive (and almost IDE ZIP drives) have the IDE electrical
interface, but are ATAPI devices rather than ATA devices. Normal disk
drives are ATA. So yes, there would have to be an ATAPI driver or
firmware for the CFFS before it would be of any use.
The earliest IDE ZIP drives used ATA commands, so those might work, but
I don't know of any way to find them now.
