I agree that the LS-120 is an interesting possibility (with driver work)
to read/write 1.44MB floppies, but there is a proven way to do so.

SuperDrive (FDHD) drives are plentiful from old Macs, and there
seems to be a fairly steady supply of SuperDrive adapter cards
(most recently for around $30).  So I'd recommend to anyone that
they acquire a drive and controller.

You not only get 1.44MB ProDOS capacity, but you get access
to the seemingly endless supply of almost-free DSHD floppies.

If you have a IIgs, then MUG provides read/write capability for
PC floppies, so sneaker net gets even easier.
