Re: BBS

I seem to remember that I used to copy my b: (assuming that is your
data1,data2, etc directory) drive to a floppy or backup directory something
every day. Basically when the program processed a logout for the first
caller on a new day, I would call the routine to COPY selected data files.
Either that, or I seem to remember there was a binary (ACOS.TIME maybe?)
that you could use to "schedule" tasks for a certain time of day. Can't
remember which one I used, but I seem to remember my board going nuts about
12:15am each night while it updated stuff. It must have been scheduled
because I remember I had code to force an online caller off by midnight so
the end of day stuff could run. Maybe it was Spacer Quest maintainence-- I
had about 40 plays of that game a day at one point. Master of my own
domain... thems were the days.

That way if I had a crash, I may lose some bulletins, uploads, etc., but at
least the users file, etc. would be up to date within a couple days.

Old SCSI drives are so cheap nowadays that I just use one of them to backup
all my a2 stuff. I basically just plug the thing into the SCSI chain, copy
*.* from my working drive, then unplug it and store it away. EZ backup.
