Amazing products of a fundamentally flawed policy of the Brazilian
government:  strict quotas on all imported computer products.

This was supposed to stimulate the creation of Brazillian computer
companies, but, of course, it completely missed the point of the
"network effect" of having a few standards to leverage software
investment.  As a result, most Brazillian computers were illegal
clones of US designs.  Even the Mac was cloned!
