iMac (OS X) network with windows me

I have a simple home network with these computers using a crossover
cable.
I seem to have it set up alright, the mac can access shared folders
on the PC.
Unfortunately when I attempt to get into the mac from the windows me
network it asks me for a password, i haven't a clue what it is.
It says the resourse is "\\A\IPC$" "A" is the name of the iMac.
I cannot find anywhere where i can turn this off, or any idea what the
password could be. Any ideas?
