On the ][+, the connection is typically to one of the encoder header pins.
If it was soldered (50-50 chance) you will recognize the pin. It is accessible
with the top off--much easier than getting to the shift key switch.
Jim Sather identifes the SHIFT' level as pin 24 of the keyboard encoder
SIP header. This is the second pin from the left when looked at from the
rear of the Apple (the only way to see it with your head right side up).
