That is what I said in a awkward fashion.  I am sorry they can not boot
Rom1 but happy they can boot Rom3.

I am not sure where in the boot it is failing.  I suspect before Sys6.0.1
installs System tools patches, maybe even before GS.OS starts the loading.

Each system version (5.0.4, 6.0, 6.0.1) has its own unique AppleII Setup
disk for the Mac server.  I have forgotten the version numbers.  When I
first setup Appleshare3.0, I made a IIGS boot disk that booted the machine
with the ability to login to the server.  I logged in and installed System
6.0.1 onto the server from the Rom1 machine.  I have not tried a Rom3
machine with the server.  After using the server machine to enable appleII
booting I set the Rom1 to boot from Applehare (or slot 7?) and it worked!
I used it that way for a couple years until I got a SCSI harddrive and
used it to boot from.  Now I do 'diskless' booting with a CFFA card (256K
Sansdisk CF).  :-)  The server booting is slow, ~ 5 min with the bloated
system I have.  BTW, my two IIE's boot from the server too.

Oh, I suspect immaterial, but I first setup server booting with Sys5.0.4.
Upgraded to Sys6.0 when it came out, and then Sys6.0.1.  Needed to use a
new AppleII Setup disk with each version.  But I doubt this sequence is
the reason I have success.  Did you install Sys6.0.1 on the server with a
Rom1 or Rom3 machine?  Does it make a difference? $64?

Something is affecting electron flow.
