Well, some success so far on my project...
I've got METAL running on a IIgs hooked up to my Windows box via custom
null-modem cable. Flow-control & Carrier Detect works great. When you
disconnect the telnet session, the PC sets the DCD line to low and the BBS
instantly resets.
The only thing I have left to do now is figure out how (in Visual Basic) to
send non-text bytes through the software I wrote. File transfers won't work
right now because of this. I'm not sure if they would work anyway because
of the time lag involved and the timeout of the transfer protocols.
Anyway, help me test it out. Telnet to my Apple IIgs and take the short
survey I've got going on it. No full-fledged BBS yet, but it is METAL, and
it is running on the IIgs. And if anyone is interested in running such a
setup, let me know.
