Have you tried cleaning the heads? You may have already tried it but in
about 95% of the cases of people reporting reading and writing problems
head cleaning fixes it.
When I was referring to a 34 pin and 20 pin connector I was talking
about
the connector on the drive mechanism itself inside the plastic case. The
drive mechanism connects to a small circuitboard. That circuitboard has
the
daisychain port and the cable which goes to your computer.
If you only have one superdrive and have a regular IIgs 800k drive then
a
good use for that SE/30 drive mechanism might be to upgrade the Apple
800k
drive into a superdrive. Most of the superdrives I'm using are upgraded
800k drives.
