I just received and installed an 8MHz / 16K ZipGSX.
My IIgs is a ROM 3 with a 4MB SiriusRAM card, a Focus IDE sitting in
slot 7, and a SoundMeister. ZipGSX in slot 2 (tho I know it matters
not).
Seems to function -- clearly accelerated things, Finder being the most
obvious. It was set to startup in ZipGSX accel mode. Turn the machine
on and the HD boots fine into GS/OS. But I notice that after exiting
and maybe booting off floppy or something later, I cannot re-boot into
slot 7 (HD) by setting boot slot to 7 via CP and resetting, typing PR#7,
IN#7, c700g (in monitor) or 7-ctrl-p, 7-ctrl-i (in monitor). I get a
sec of drive activity then it dumps to monitor.
The Focus was always a little wily in that I would have to go ahead and
reset and to a few combinations of PR#7, IN#7, and the above to get it
to boot--it would just sit there with the drive going crazy as if the
thing was not in the right "mode" or something. But it would ususally
work after a few tries. Somtimes there was just 1 try - but rarely I
would have to power off and on. The Focus has always been like that.
But the dumping to monitor after trying to reboot is new with the
ZipGSX. I am having more trouble with this config. Booting other
drives is fine.
I have slot 2 and 6 set to slow via Zip DIP's.
Does this sound familiar at all? Should I not be starting in accel mode?
Please advise. Thanks.
