I got it working!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
Thanks to all those who posted suggestions, it happened to be a
different problem!
I opened up my IIGS and found that my 5.25inch floppy disk drive is
connected to the "Apple 5.25inch Disk Drive" controller card, rather
than the Smart Port used by the 3.5inch disk drives. By daisy-chaining
them to back of the 3.5 inch disk drive, it doesn't work (and
understandably!).
It turned out that my IIGS was set in Fast mode, instead of Normal.
Upon, entering the "Control Panel", switching it to the latter setting,
it fixed the problem. I felt the problem was related to the clock speed,
hence why it was reading the 5.25inch disks too fast and making the disk
sound like it was corrupt.
