Typically you would need the RF modulator, but some of them may be
growing composite inputs. I suspect that a set with a composite input
would be considered a "monitor" and would probably not be on the "under
$100" shelf that I see a lot of these sets on. ;-)
In another response, Tony suggested waiting for small HDTV LCD sets.
I suspect this will be a pretty long wait, particularly if you want them to
be less than $500!
If you don't care about spending a few hundred, then an inexpensive
LCD monitor in the 15" range that handles NTSC composite (there are
some) should work very well. (I don't know whether these monitors will
broaden their video bandwidth if presented with a monochrome signal.)
