Greetings all. I've been quietly working towards creating two new Apple
IIgs software archives. It's my hope that they can both be as comprehensive
as the Apple IIgs Gaming Memory Fairway is
(http://www.inwards.com/~fairway).
Because of that, it needs a helping hand from the wider Apple II community.
If you have a good quality flatbed scanner connected to your Macintosh or PC
and have any Apple IIgs software boxes and packaging of any kind, you can
help bigtime.
Let me know what software boxes you have before you scan anything and I'll
get back to you as soon as I can letting you know which scans are still
needed and what the archive currently already has.
This time, it can include ANY type of IIgs software, not just games;
Productivity software, Graphics, Sound and Music, Programming, Utility and
Educational software. It can even include French release versions of the
software!
All submitted scans will be retouched in Photoshop by myself - you don't
need to worry about retouching anything, unless you consider yourself well
versed in doing so. Retouching the scans not only restores their original
quality, but in doing so, also produces smaller file sizes because the
artwork is a lot 'cleaner' and JPG compression can work more effeciently.
If you threw out all your boxed Apple IIgs software, you can still help.
Write a concise review of your favourite Apple IIgs applications or
educational software. Try to include information on the program's history,
its strong points and weaknesses, some basic concepts on how the program is
used and what memory requirements are needed to run the program.
Anyone who submits anything will be credited for doing so (or not if you
wish to remain anonymous).
Also, it is not the intention of this archive to publically distribute
programs that are still being sold, such as those by Shareware Solutions II
or Syndicomm.
Thanks everyone. Let's make sure the reasons why we all loved the IIgs don't
fade into the past.
