Isopropyl alcohol, paraffin (kerosene to the Yanks) as it does no or very
little damage to rubber or plastic parts. Most repairers of dot matrix printers
used to clean the platen roller with isopropyl.
Ideally an ultrasonic bath type cleaner. But buck$$$$$
