I can send you a Shrinkit image of the Apple IIgs diagnostics disk.
It includes a test for the Apple memory card.

Shreve Systems (900-227-3971, www.shrevesystems.com) has been
advertising an Apple II 256K Memory Expansion Kit (HM51256P-10)
for $1 each in Nuts and Volts magazine for over a year now.
You can contact them and find out if that is a set of 8
DIP chips.  They have a $25 minimum order but perhaps some other
folks here would be interested in a group buy.  At that price,
I would take 10 or 20 sets just for spares.
