You're out by a few versions - it can be used by desktop expansion by
AppleWorks 1.3 and later (and possibly 1.2 - I'd have to test it to
confirm).
Apart from that, it appears as a normal ProDOS volume called /RAMn
(where 'n' is the slot number in which it is installed).
If you want to boot from it, you need to "format" it using standard disk
formatting software (e.g. Apple II System Utilities, Copy II+, ShrinkIt,
etc.) and copy the PRODOS file onto it, along with any other software
you want (typically including at least one ProDOS application with name
ending in .SYSTEM).
I'm not sure how AppleWorks will behave if there are files on the RAM
disk.
You can also use this card as a RAM disk with Apple II Pascal 1.3, and
with DOS 3.3 (use IN#n, where 'n' is the slot, to format the RAM disk
for DOS 3.3 and patch it into RWTS).
