Re: trading policy for IIe

How about posting a list of software you have for trade on
comp.sys.apple2.marketplace...?

I think in most cases it is quite safe and *reasonably* ethical to
trade/copy software that is generally considered obsolete and whose
copyright is no longer being actively enforced. I'm sure some will
disagree.

As has been pointed out, a huge amount of Apple II software is
available online, which is great if you have the facilities to
download it and transfer it to your Apple II. I'm sure a lot of us who
don't have the luxury would benefit greatly from setting up a small
trading community.

I haven't seen much offered for trade on the newsgroups... is this
because it is considered piracy and will result in the FBI
confiscating your floppies, or is it just that everyone is bent on
selling their old programs as ultra-rare collectibles on eBay???

Anyhoo, I think the basic rules of thumb should be:

*If a piece of software is still in commercial production, do not
copy/trade it.
*Don't duplicate and sell someone else's software at a profit (even if
it's freeware/public domain), unless you have the author's consent.
*Be sensible / be nice / smile lots.

Blah-blah-blah...enough out of me. What do the rest of you think?

I'll post my trade list in the next few days.
