I have checked out the PSU, and so far not found much faulty, except it
blows 10A fuses, which is pretty spectacular. I think a Variac may be
needed for mine. A circuit would be handy too, I hate working on stuff
without a clue what I'm looking at. The job is on Ice, since the WD 40M
drive went south last year, or is that north from down under :)
I was running it off a PC supply for most of my testing. Wires hanging out
everywhere, but it worked.
With that new code, I hope to get back into fixing it again. One of the
drives I have is a Conner 40M which matches a model that was used in the
Vulcan originally. And it's not a stepper like the WD drive. Although I must
say the WD had a very nice wine and squeeking stepping sound. Very unique,
and a characteristic missing on voice coil drives of today. I will miss
that.
