a little more detail required Tarage...
1. what ROM GS do you have ?
2. what slots are slots 1, 2 and 7 set to in the control panel ?
3. does it keep the settings in the control panel (check the clock) ?
4. do you have the localtalk kit plugged into the printer or modem port
?
5. is the kit terminated correctly ?
6. are you trying to get Appletalk to work, or is it just doing that
from the HDD setup ?
answer all those, and we can give more help I hope.
BTW I normally get that message if the localtalk kit is unplugged.
